At Golden Sun, we take safety and compliance very seriously.  Many people do not realize how many NYS 19A and Federal D.O.T. regulations apply to a company such as ours.  Before a driver can even be hired, a Department of Motor Vehicle record is carefully looked at. Once a driver is hired (who already has a CDL license) a NYS and federal background check is obtained along with a physical and drug test. A physical performance test is also required.

Next, a 6-hour pre-service class is required. Once all of these standards are met, that driver can be added to 19A roster. Within one year, a driver is required to take the 30-hour Basic Bus Driving class and pass the administered test at the end. Two times per year a mandatory two-hour safety refresher class is required. Some of the topics that are addressed at these refreshers are:

         P.J’s Law (Special Needs Students)

         Driving in adverse weather conditions

         First Aid

        Special speakers (law enforcement, first responders, etc.)

        DASA (Dignity for All Students)

        Address by the President of Golden Sun Bus Service, Inc.

        Address by the Superintendent of the Fulton School District

        Discuss any questions or concerns drivers may have
